February 21, 2009 219 Dwinelle - UC Berkeley Saneha (Mark of Excellence), was a series of workshops that took place on the UC Berkeley campus. Participants attended personal and community development sessions that sought to foster the Sikh values based on Gurmat traditions: Sikh scripture, history, and discipline. Other principles of universal significance were also incorporated that do not disturb the harmony of the Sikh faith. Through each program, workshop presenters provided an opportunity for the participants to ask questions and seek an answer through discussion and interpretation. Compiled Testimonials Name: Jas Singh Grewal City: Sacramento State: CA, USA We came to this workshop to learn about Sikhi. That goal was achieved, we gained a much better understanding. It broadened my perspective. I would highly recommend this to others. Possibly condensing program into ½ day and either before lunch or after lunch. Name: Manpreet Singh City: San Jose State: CA, USA I came to this event having thought in my mind to become a better Sikh and to find “Guru” within myself. This workshop by Mr. Harinder Singh was really beneficial in both and every aspect. He has not only helped me understand Sikhi and Guru, he has also helped to find that enlightenment within myself. The course which shapes around the basic thoughts and functionalities of Guru and Sikhism is really a nice venture and I would always be available to attend it anywhere and everywhere. I strongly recommend it to every Sikh and specially young kids to attend it and to be benefited from it. Thanks to Hardeep for inviting me and also thanks to Harinder Singh ji and Balmeet bro for every effort they put in. Name: Balbir Singh City: San Jose State: CA, USA Having studies out of Panjab State, I have had no exposure to interact and learn on self-development of my own religious faith. Over a period of my self learning through local Sikh Gurdwaras, we experience same old stories and no forum to learn from learned person like the one we had today, i.e. Dr. Harinder Singh. As I know, everyone’s understanding is at different levels due to their age, social and intellectual level in life- I have enjoyed today talks, exercises, presentation, and stimulation of philosophical questions to explore and analyze life at individual level. Such events should be organized more often for benefit to masses. I feel seniors living in Bay Area could be involved in such lectures since we seniors have plenty of potentials but lack religious leadership and organization capabilities. Overall well done and good wishes. Name: Randeep Singh City: Berkeley State: CA, USA The program actually made me refresh my knowledge about Ten Gurus. I forgot some of the information regarding my Gurus which I learned in my high school. Actually there is something which I always look in any kind of religious discussion. So I think I treat my religion like a daily life. I would like more comparison should be discussed regarding being a good human. Name: Sareena Singh City: San Francisco State: CA, USA It helped me restore my faith in the progressiveness of the Sikh faith. Name: Sukhmani Singh City: Sacramento State: CA, USA I think that this day was very fun and interesting. I liked talking about the Gurus the most. The bad part was the argument we had. I liked this day and I hope this program keeps getting better. Name: Gaganpreet Sohal City: Elk Grove State: CA, USA I thought this program was fun and it benefited me by teaching me a lot more about Sikhi and perspectives of others about how they feel about Sikhism. I would recommend people to come here and others would learn a lot about Sikhi. I thought today was fun and very educational and I would like to thank all of the people who were organizing this program. Name: Gurjot Sohal City: Sacramento State: CA, USA I think this program has given me a better understanding or esperience of Sikhi. By Sikhi, I mean the religion like our Gods, our religion. I all together think this was a really good experience for me. Name: Anonymous City: Anonymous State: Anonymous I felt the ways and means by which Harinder was able to personalize the experience of Sikh and demonstrate how each individual can empower themselves in their relationship with the Guru was powerful.
